Ling Heather Honey, 1 kg jar

Ling Heather is an introduced species that is threatening to smother the tussock lands of the Central Plateau are of the North Island. It was introduced to the area around the Chateau at Mount Ruapehu with the intention of providing cover for the grouse that were also introduced to the area to provide sport shooting for those "gentlemen" staying at the Chateau. Unfortunately the grouse did not survive but the heather did exceptionally well. Today it is extremely widespread and is gradually taking over from the native tussock land. Ling Heather honey is of golden colour with a unique flavour. Available for $9.85 ea
